Homemade water fountains provide that special economical advantage that of course is not available should you has to venture outside for buying the fountain.
Buying alone is not the case but its maintenance itself is also a concern for the fact that once you have assembled the fountain yourself then you would be able to do maintenance of indoor water fountains or outdoor water fountains.
So here is my quick guide to make a working water fountain. You can definitely add more creativity to the whole thing but the basic still remains the same.
What you need to put together the fountain
Pots or something to hold the water pump
Tubing to get the water up from the pump
Another pot to get the water to flow down from there
Power cord for water pump
Some fine mesh – to prevent clogging around the pump
The basic steps are
1) Have the water pump in one pot or any other container
2) Then make sure that you have the mesh covering the pump
3) Connect the pump to electric source – of course that is the last step
4) Take the tubing from the pump to the second container.
5) The tubing should go from base of the container. That means you need a hole or something to make sure that the tubing can be inserted into the second container. Generally use a chicken wire of some other sort of hollow flexible pipe to guide the tubing.
6) Cover the second container with some nice stones or pebbles of some other solid stuff so that water can make good sound and also the tubing and the chicken wire then are held in a firm position.
7) The homemade water fountains as always you will have made do with the basic stuff.
8) The first container having the pump should be either in the ground or below the first container in a such manner that they look good esthetically
Important tips for a homemade water fountains indoor , outdoor or garden
While buying the pump make sure that you buy according to the needs and the main feature to look for is the gallons per hour capacity and the maximum lift that this pump can provide.
In fact creating a homemade waterfall is much simpler especially in a garden because of the fact that it will always be just a pump and tubing and just create a waterfall across the garden. So if you need to make a backyard water fountain then make sure that you build something which does not disturb your neighbors. Make sure the height is no more than a few inches if there are neighbor’s close by but if they are not close by then go ahead and build a big water fountain or a waterfall.
Get a solar powered water pump if you want to be ecologically conscious too.
So go ahead and get your creative and outdoorsy juice flowing and assemble a good water fountain. Hope these tips on how to make a homemade water fountain help you.
